Interviewing for an entry-level assistant position at Stokes Wagner three years ago was one shot among many in my search for something more stable than the retail positions I’d been taking for the last eight years. When I got the job offer, I was excited to try out work in a new field, but I had no idea how much learning and growing I would do within the firm.
I had done everything from emptying mall vending machines to craft sales to late-night cookie delivery, but I had never explored any kind of legal work. Exploring the ins-and-outs of court rules, calendaring, and document management for a firm with so many far-flung branches has been a stimulating experience. I’ve also been thrilled to get to flex my creative muscles, designing handbooks, newsletters, and literature for our clients and for the Stokes Wagner brand. As a member of the firm marketing team, I’m excited to be given the opportunity to be not just a help to what our team is doing, but also to be the person creating opportunities for everyone.
My work on organizing, designing, and marketing for Stokes Wagner has also better-equipped me for my personal journey off-hours: creating comics. From my studio at home, I enjoy reading and drawing my own. I also teach, do events at our local shop, and run a club for geeky women. Between jobs, my fiancée and our two dogs keep me company for horror movies, hiking, and just hanging out-resting up for the week to start all over again!
