If you had asked me before law school what kind of lawyer I wanted to be, I would have confidently answered: a water lawyer. Before attending Emory, I worked at a law firm in Austin, Texas, where I started in the mailroom and later became a paralegal in the environmental practice group. I fully expected to continue building a career in environmental law.

Law school had other plans. During my first year, my legal writing professor, who had previously practiced employment law, introduced me to a field I had not considered. The more I learned, the more I was drawn to the variety of the work, the emphasis on problem-solving, and the opportunity to help employers address issues that directly affect people. She also introduced me to Jordan Fishman and, ultimately, to Stokes Wagner. The rest is history.

At Stokes Wagner, I put my love of research and writing to work by helping clients find practical answers to complex workplace issues. I enjoy taking a difficult legal question, digging into the law, and developing practical, well-supported solutions for our clients. Every matter brings something new, and that is one of the things I enjoy most about employment law.

Outside the office, you might find me searching for the next addition to my matchbook collection, baking French pastries, trying new restaurants, learning a new song on the ukulele, playing chess, or spoiling my kitten.
